Paid Job Types:
(Students will receive at least $9.40/hour for paid job positions.)

Service (house keeping, nanny), Other service positions, Hotel (not house keeping), Restaurant (Kitchen), Restaurant (Not kitchen), Café, Fast food, Working at the School, Retail, Grocery Store, Ski resort (not instructing), Ski resort (Skiing instructor), Activity company (Active position), and Administration. Depending on your experience other positions may be possible.

Study Options together with the 24 and 48 week Work and Study Programs:

    For 24 or 48 week programs:

  • English Communication 24 hours/week
  • English Communication 24 hours/week + Activities
  • English Communication 30 hours/week
  • 48 week programs only:

  • 12 weeks EC 24 hours/week + 12 weeks IELTS Test preparation
  • 12 weeks EC 30 hours/week + 12 weeks IELTS Test preparation

The job market in the Bow Valley and Canmore is bursting with unique opportunities to work and live in one of the most beautiful places in Canada. Opportunities in the seasonal industries of the area involve working at local ski hills, hotels, tourist hot spots, summer camps, and also within the community of Canmore. You will be provided with the most up to date job opportunities from our partnering businesses as well as those made available to the public, all with lots of help from our BEC instructors. We offer both part time and full time placements, depending on the availability of jobs in the area at the time of your placement.

Paid Work While You Study

Paid Work While You Study and Paid Work & Study (24 Weeks/48 Weeks) Includes:
• Assistance in obtaining a Social Insurance Number
• Assistance with Study/Work Permit applications
• BEC’s Working Orientation handbook
• Mail and parcel holding service (students can use our BEC address as long as you are in the program so that you have a Canadian address to use)
• Job skills training in resume preparation, interview skills and workplace language
• Resume review and editing
• Interview coaching (*3x30 min. private lessons, or 3x50 min. small group lessons)
• Preparation and arrangement of placement interviews
• Access to office supplies and equipment (fax/copier/PC/etc.)
• Resume faxing service
• $10 Prepaid Telephone Card
• PC and internet use during office hours
• Maps, directions and information about the community in which you are staying
• Assistance of the Internship Program Coordinator during regular office hours
• 24 Hour Emergency telephone support

Professional Internship (Unpaid) (24 Weeks/48 Weeks):
Unpaid Professional Internships:

You must have professional experience and qualification in your country to take this program. These professional Internships are in partnership with companies in the Bow Valley that will correspond with your chosen profession at home. Although unpaid, the placements are rich in experience and will give you the opportunity to compare the way a company of the same sort in your home country is run. The ideals, organization and cultural differences will open your eyes to the beauty that is Canadian Culture, and also help you to understand your own business culture better. Relationships built here in Canada can become the business relationships of your professional future, improving your career, and your career opportunities.

• 10/22 weeks of study + 12/24 weeks of unpaid work + 2 weeks of study and presentations
• Placement after 10/22 weeks of study
• 24/48 week program

Working Holiday Basic Support Package:

This program is for students on the International Experience Canada program (The Working Holiday Visa) that would like to find their own jobs in Canada without placement or interviews set up by the school. We support students by offering information, basic support and basic services that will make it much easier.

Volunteering in Canada is a great opportunity to learn more English in a community setting while helping others. The work and humanitarian experience gained by being involved with volunteering is valuable in every country, and on every resume.
