Students have the option of Homestay or Dormitory/hostel accommodations with the exception of the weeks of July 30th to August 12th. For those 2 weeks intensive students will stay in Canmore homestay and all other students will stay in the Dormitory/Hostel in Banff.
Homestay students are placed with carefully selected Canadian families in a secure and friendly environment.
Homestay information is sent out 2 to 3 weeks before the arrival date. The homestay information sheets include 4 pictures, walking distance from the school, basic information on the family members and family contact information.
The main dormitory location will be the Hostel Bear* (www.hostelbear.com). An area of the hostel will be designated for Banff Education Centre. Only students in our program will share these student rooms. Each room has 4, 6 or 10 students in it. There is a large common area, a quiet couch area for reading and tables for eating and studying. The hostel in Banff is not as new as the hostel bear but offers comfortable short term group accommodations. Both Homestay and Dormitory offer 3 meals per day. Students are required to help prepare, set-up before meals and clean up after meals. Students will be responsible for keeping their own area clean and helping in general cleaning and must do their own laundry. (The host family/accommodation chaperone will show them how.) Chaperones will be responsible for caring for the students while at the dormitory location. This will be a ratio of maximum 10 students/chaperone. Students staying in the dormitory must join weekend activities. This fee/price has been included in the dormitory price. Students staying with relatives, or students that have not booked accommodations through BEC, have the option of paying and joining weekend activities.
